About the estate
The Alt estate, founded around 1750, is managed by cellar master Andreas Alt, who took over the family business in 2000. Covering ten hectares of vineyards in Großriedenthal with loess and red gravel soils, the winery produces typical white wines as well as powerful red wines. The most important sites include Goldberg, Hinternberg, and Eisenhut. The grape variety portfolio includes Grüner Veltliner, Roter Veltliner, Riesling, Zweigelt, Merlot, and Syrah, among others. The annual production is around 40,000 bottles.
The eno directory lists 19 wines, mostly from Zweigelt and Grüner Veltliner. The estate sells to horeca and retail. Export markets include Germany.
