The Wijnmakerij Op Joarum estate cultivates grapes across two locations in the Netherlands, producing an annual output of approximately 1500 to 2500 bottles. Simon Somers and Chantal Heeg manage the winery, with Simon Somers acting as the winemaker. The primary vineyard is situated on ancient marine clay in Kubaard, complemented by a smaller plot on humus-rich forest soil in Nietap. The vineyard cultivates fungus-resistant grape varieties including Solaris, Johanniter, Muscaris, Souvignier Gris, Regent, Cabernet Cortis, and Cabernet Cantor, alongside the traditional variety Frühburgunder. Vinification takes place in a professional onsite cellar, focusing on wine styles inspired by cooler European wine regions.
