About the estate
The organic Wijngaard El Placer estate was established in 2000 by Johan Rippen and Lidwien Vos de Wael north of Lelystad. Covering an area of 0.5 hectares, the founders cultivate the mildew-tolerant grape varieties Regent and Rondo, which are well-suited to the local polder climate. The winery operates in a biodiverse manner, completely refraining from chemical pesticides and copper. From these grapes, the estate produces red and rosé wines, alongside grappa and verjus. The vineyard is managed collaboratively with volunteers and interns in a natural environment.
