About the estate

The Weingut Heinz Nikolai estate manages 16 hectares of vineyards in the Rheingau, with around 70 percent of the area planted with Riesling. The grape variety portfolio also includes Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Goldmuskateller, and the fungus-resistant variety Sauvignac. The vines grow in vineyard sites across Erbach and the neighboring municipalities of Hattenheim, Hallgarten, and Kiedrich on soils comprising loess, loess-loam, and gravel. The mild climate along the Rhine and the southern to southwestern exposures of the vineyards favor grape maturation. These protected and stony sites yield mineral-driven Rieslings as well as Rheingau Grosses Gewächs wines.
