About the estate
The Heinrich Mertes estate is managed by winemaker Wolfgang Mertes with the support of his family. The winery cultivates vineyards in Waldrach locations on weathered slate soils. The focus is on fresh Rieslings as well as Pinot noir aged in barrique barrels. The wines are produced very gently and fermented predominantly spontaneously with natural yeasts. The winemaker places great importance on close-to-nature and sustainable wine production.
