About the estate

The Prieure de Montezargues estate is located in Tavel in the Rhône Valley, with a history dating back to 1199 when a monastic community from the Grandmont Abbey settled there. In 2003, the Richard family acquired the property, which now covers a continuous vineyard area of 33 hectares. The vineyards thrive under Mediterranean influences on sandy soils covered with rolled pebbles, protected by surrounding forests and the Montagne Noire. The grape variety assortment includes Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Clairette, Grenache Noir, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, and Carignan. Certified organic since the 2013 vintage, the estate focuses on producing the renowned rosé wine of the Tavel appellation.
