About the estate
The Podere Lucagnolo estate is located in southern Umbria in the municipality of Calvi dell'Umbria, overlooking the middle Tiber river valley. The two hectares of vineyards were planted in 2008 with eleven thousand vines trained as low bush vines on clay and sandy soils containing fossil remains. The vineyard area is planted with one-third native Umbrian grape variety, one-third Montepulciano, and one-third consisting of Merlot, Barbera, and Sangiovese. The estate has been in conversion to organic farming since 2021. The base wines are vinified separately and blended according to the characteristics of each vintage.

In dialetto i “suicci” sono i pascoli aridi con rocce affioranti, terreni aspri e asciutti ma in grado di produrre foraggio e nutrimento. Pensiamo renda bene l’idea di un vino prodotto con il vitigno autoctono umbro caratterizzato dai suoi tannini che in questo vigneto, allevato ad alberello ed esposto a sud, ha trovato una dimensione di eleganza non comune.
