Le Clos des Ors

About the estate

The Le Clos des Ors estate is located in Sardan in the Rhône Valley and farms its vineyards according to organic and biodynamic principles. The vineyards are situated on a plateau at an altitude of 200 meters amidst forests featuring Mediterranean tree species, white oaks, birches, and ash trees. The soil consists of a silty-clay layer with limestone fragments resting on hard limestone and blue marl strata dating from the Early Cretaceous period. The sustainable cultivation relies on mechanical tillage, the avoidance of herbicides, and the promotion of biodiversity. Deep root systems reaching into the marl layers provide the wines with a distinctive minerality and freshness.
