About the estate

The Cave du domaine de la ville de Berne estate cultivates a vineyard area of 20 hectares situated on the shores of Lake Biel between La Neuveville and Schafis on a limestone moraine of the Jura. The property is the largest wine estate in the canton of Bern and has managed its vineyards according to the BIOSUISSE label guidelines since the beginning of 2022. The cultivated grape varieties primarily include the regional classics Chasselas and Pinot Noir, alongside various specialties such as Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Furthermore, an increased cultivation of PIWI varieties is planned as part of sustainable resource management, with low yields maintained across all varieties to ensure optimal quality.
