About the estate

The Casa Agrícola AVR, S.A. estate has owned Quinta da Cortiçada since 2005, a property with a winemaking tradition dating back to the 18th century. The approximately 90 hectares of vineyards are located in a valley within the Tejo DOC region, situated between the Candeeiros Mountains and the Tagus River. The sandy and water-retentive soils provide a unique terroir for red varieties such as Castelão, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Aragonês, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, and Syrah, as well as white varieties like Fernão Pires, Trincadeira-das-Pratas, and Arinto. In the modernized winery, red wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks and partially aged in oak barrels, while white wines undergo temperature-controlled fermentation.
