About the estate

The Bodegas y Viñedos del Marqués de Vargas estate traces its origins back to 1840 when the first vines were planted at the Hacienda Pradolagar. The current winery buildings in the heart of Rioja were constructed in 1989 by the de la Mata family. Spanning 52 hectares of vineyards divided into numerous parcels, the estate follows a sustainable approach with a strong focus on manual labor. Harvesting is conducted entirely by hand using small boxes, followed by the separate vinification of each plot. The distinctive wines are aged in carefully selected French oak barrels.
