About the estate

Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza was founded in 1989 and is located in the center of Samaniego within the Rioja Alavesa region. The estate farms 80 hectares of estate-owned vineyards spread across more than 200 plots in nine municipalities in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria. Since its inception, the winery has distinguished itself by revolutionizing traditional vineyard and vinification methods, including the practice of separating Tempranillo clusters into distinct parts. Production practices involve manual harvesting into small boxes, meticulous grape selection, and extended aging in predominantly new French oak barrels. All wines undergo a lengthy maturation period in the cellars before being released to the market and exported.
