About the estate
The Bodegas Ayesa winery traces its origins back to 1940, when grandfather Ildefonso García De Olano began producing wine in a 15th-century subterranean cellar of his home. In the year 2000, the current winery was built in Laguardia within the Rioja Alavesa region. The estate spans 27 hectares of vineyards with an average vine age of 50 years, planted entirely on clay-limestone soils. The grape variety portfolio consists of 85 percent Tempranillo with the remainder dedicated to Viura. Protected by the Sierra de Cantabria mountains and influenced by the local geography, the estate produces distinctive wines.
