About the estate
The Altos de Rioja estate was founded in 2006 through the partnership of three experienced wine professionals and is located in Elvillar in the Basque Country within the Rioja Alavesa subzone. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of nearly 700 meters on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, featuring limestone soils with high biodiversity. Tempranillo is cultivated as the main grape variety, complemented by Graciano, Viura, and Chardonnay. Winemaking emphasizes gentle, plot-by-plot vinification, utilizing French and American oak barrels as well as terracotta amphorae for aging. The winery produces its wines under the Rioja DOCa denomination.
