About the estate
The Portuguese winery Adega de Vila Real produces wines within the Douro DOC appellation. The vineyards are situated at high altitudes around the medieval citadel of Vila Real. For the red wines, classic grape varieties such as Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional are cultivated. Vinification partly involves extended aging in French and American oak barrels as well as on the fine lees.
