About the estate

The Weingut Ökonomierat Johannes Kleinmann estate in Birkweiler is managed by the family in the fourth generation and looks back on a 125-year history. Great-grandfather and pioneer Johannes Kleinmann laid the foundation for the winery along the Southern Wine Route. The focus of production is on Pinot varieties, with grapes growing in sites such as the Birkweiler Kastanienbusch, Mandelberg, and Rosenberg. Soils consisting of red sandstone, shell limestone, and loess-loam, combined with careful manual labor and selective harvesting, shape the character of the wines.
