About the estate

The Víno Šmelko winery was founded in 2013 by Miloš Šmelko in Svätý Jur at the foot of the Little Carpathians. Spanning approximately two hectares, the vineyards feature sandy granite soils and a southern exposure, providing ideal conditions for varieties such as Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Roter Silvaner, and Burgundy varieties planted in the 1950s and 1980s. Red varieties like Frankovka, Merlot, and Alibernet are sourced from local growers. The winemaking process focuses on minimal intervention and hand-harvested grapes, resulting in an annual production of around 5000 bottles. Tastings are offered directly at the Renaissance winery and within the vineyards.
