About the estate
The Tenuta Sterpai winery looks back on a winemaking tradition that began in the 1940s in the Marche region with grandfather Umberto. Following the family's move to Bolgheri in 1956 and their work as sharecroppers, the family acquired a 6.5-hectare estate in Collemezzano in the municipality of Cecina in January 1967. In 1968, about two hectares of vineyards were planted, which were later reduced in size and ultimately grubbed up in 2008. Today, the winemaking project is carried on by the third generation, consisting of the siblings Fausto, Anna, and Catia, following the untimely passing of their uncle Giancarlo.
