About the estate
The Szalay estate is a traditional family-run winery in Mönchhof, one of Austria's oldest wine-growing communities, and is now managed in the fourth generation. On a consciously reduced vineyard area of four hectares, expressive red and white wines are produced in the Pannonian climate around Lake Neusiedl. The grape variety portfolio includes Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, and Scheurebe. The winery relies on manual labor, careful vineyard management in harmony with nature, and a clear focus on quality over quantity. In addition to winemaking, the family runs a traditional wine tavern and offers direct farm sales.
