About the estate
The Sugrue South Downs estate was founded in 2006 by Dermot Sugrue and is today managed jointly with Ana Sugrue. The winery farms around nine and a half hectares of vineyards across East and West Sussex, featuring chalk soils. The production focuses on sparkling wines that are fermented in old oak barrels and aged for several years prior to release. The portfolio is complemented by limited-release still wines from the region. The wines are internationally recognized and distributed to fine dining restaurants and wine merchants worldwide.
The eno directory lists 7 wines, mostly from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The estate sells to importers, distributors, horeca and retail. Export markets include Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
