About the estate

The ΜΕΘΥΜΝΑΙΟΣ ΟΙΝΟΣ estate was founded in 1985 by Dr. Yannis Lambrou on the Greek island of Lesvos, with vineyards cultivated on the lava of an inactive volcano. The winery is dedicated to organic farming and the preservation of the unique Chidiriotiko grape variety, which was saved from extinction in 1985. The distinct terroir featuring lava soils containing sulfur and copper sulphate gracefully endows the wines with minerality and depth of expression. The estate produces wines under the Protected Geographical Indication Lesvos designation and supplies markets in Greece, France, and the United States.
