The winery THE WINERY MONSIEUR NICOLAS by G. Karamitros is located in Karditsa, Thessaly, and cultivates vineyards within the Messenicola PDO denomination. Local winemaking traditions trace back to 1455 when a French nobleman known as Monsieur Nicolas settled in the area and introduced French viticultural culture. Sheltered by the Agrafa mountain range and influenced by Lake Plastira, the estate produces wines from indigenous varieties such as Mavro Messenicola, Batiki, and Limniona, alongside international grapes like Syrah and Carignan. Georgios Karamitros focuses on promoting these regional grape varieties, which thrive in clay soils and the local mountain microclimate.
