About the estate
Built in 1824, Château Malescasse is located in Lamarque between Margaux and Saint-Julien on the highest gravel ridges of the Médoc. The estate covers a single contiguous vineyard area of 40 hectares featuring deep gravelly soils and an ocean-influenced climate. Following changing ownership and its acquisition in 2012 by Philippe Austruy, the property is today among the ambitious representatives of the appellation. Each of the 28 parcels is farmed individually, with the team practicing sustainable agriculture under a certification obtained in 2020. The planting of cereals between the vine rows promotes soil fertility and supports a natural balance.
