About the estate
The Bodegas Almijara estate originated from a former 19th-century resin factory in Cómpeta and was established in 1993. The vineyards are situated in the Axarquía region on south-facing slopes of the Sierra Almijara at an altitude between 600 and 800 meters. Due to steep slopes and a lack of mechanization, all vineyard tasks are performed entirely by hand and in a traditional manner. The production focuses on Moscatel grapes, expressing the local viticultural heritage combined with modern technology. Since the year 2000, the winery has been affiliated with the Málaga and Sierras de Málaga denominations.
