About the estate
The Georgian estate Ambari traces its history back to 1920, when a historic cellar was restored that still forms the heart of production today. The name derives from the grape-picking tradition and stands for wines of a high standard. The vineyards cover 250 hectares in Kakheti and other traditional areas, cultivating classic Georgian grape varieties such as Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Kisi, and Kakhuri Mtsvane. Led by chief winemaker Giorgi Babunidze, the winery combines ancient traditions with modern European technology.
The eno directory lists 22 wines, mostly from Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. The estate sells to importers and distributors. Export markets include Austria, Bulgaria, Germany and Switzerland.
