About the estate

The Orbelia Winery estate was founded in 2013 in Kolarovo at the foot of the Belasitsa Mountains, drawing on a multi-generational family tradition of viticulture. The name originates from the ancient Thracian designation for the mountain range. Spanning 22 hectares of vineyards in the Struma Valley, the estate cultivates both historic heritage plots and newly planted sites with native and international grape varieties such as Shiroka Melnishka Loza, Melnik 1300, Ruen, Sandanski Misket, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Melnik 55, Melnik 82, Rubin, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah. Winemaking combines traditional practices with modern cellar technology, featuring fermentation in tanks and maturation in Bulgarian, French, and American oak barrels. The estate distributes its wines to international markets including Switzerland and Austria.
