About the estate
The Gustl & Franz winery cultivates vineyards on volcanic soils in the Vulkanland Steiermark region in Sankt Anna am Aigen. The sites include the steep south-facing Ried Stradenberg with complex soils of basalt, gravel, and sandy loam, as well as the east-facing Ried Kraschitz with deep soils of basalt, clay, and opok. These geological conditions and varying orientations provide ideal conditions for characterful and mineral-driven wines, including Sauvignon blanc. Rooted in tradition, the estate places great emphasis on sustainability in its work.
