About the estate

The distinguishing feature of the family-run estate WEINHOF PICHLER in Bad Waltersdorf in the Vulkanland Steiermark region is its portfolio of 25 different wines produced across 19 hectares of vineyards. The estate was founded in 1997 by Franz Pichler, who initially worked as a fruit grower before converting entirely to viticulture in 2003 and building a new cellar in 2010. The vineyards are situated on sites including Leitersdorfberg and Sebersdorfberg, where the vines grow on warm soils composed of sand, clay, and weathered rock. The East Styrian microclimate combines influences from the southern Mediterranean region with the Pannonian lowland climate. The grapes are cultivated within a 10-kilometer radius of the estate and harvested by hand in autumn. Vinification takes place in a cellar built in 2010, utilizing temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for white wines and wooden barrels for red wine maturation. The estate is listed in the national winery database of Österreich Wein Marketing. The portfolio includes classic dry, off-dry, and barrique-aged wines, featuring Welschriesling from Leitersdorfberg and Sauvignon Blanc Selektion from Sebersdorfberg. Alongside white and red wines, the production comprises rosé wines, Frizzante, sparkling wine, brandies, liqueurs, gin, tonic water, wine spritzers, vinegar, and pumpkin seed oil.
