About the estate
The Château de Barbe looks back on a history dating back to the 14th century and is situated on the right bank of the Gironde estuary. Covering 35 hectares of vineyards, the estate cultivates classic red grape varieties of Bordeaux such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. The vineyards thrive on clay-limestone soils as well as on alluvial gravel soils near the riverbanks. The winery produces wines under the Côtes de Bourg, Bordeaux Supérieur, and Bordeaux appellations. Vineyard management is carried out with a rigorous and personalized plot-by-plot approach ranging from pruning to harvesting.
