About the estate
The Château d'Issan estate is located in the heart of the Margaux appellation and looks back on a long history dating back to a fortified castle from the twelfth century and an enclosed property built in 1644. The estate's total vineyard area covers 68 hectares, distributed across the AOC Margaux, Haut-Médoc, and Bordeaux Supérieur denominations. The soils consist of gravel ridges and alluvial hills that allow rapid drainage and encourage the vines to root deeply. The temperate climate benefits from the regulating proximity of the ocean and the estuary. The property combines its historic vineyard with natural polyculture areas to preserve biodiversity and the character of the wines.
