L'azienda Bodegas Villa Amalia fa risalire le sue origini alla famiglia Basso, originaria di Genova, che produce vino dal 1922 e ha acquisito una piccola cantina a Carrodilla, a Mendoza, nel 1997. Oggi l'azienda, che possiede due vigneti nella valle dello Uco, la Finca La Amalia ad Altamira e la Finca Los Montes Negros a Los Arboles, è gestita da Carlos e da suo figlio Adolfo. La proprietà si estende su una superficie vitata totale di 274,5 ettari, caratterizzata da suoli alluvionali composti da calcare, sabbia e ghiaia. Le varietà coltivate comprendono diverse uve a bacca rossa e bianca come Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot e Chardonnay. Il portfolio comprende linee distinte tra cui Signature, Gran Reserva e Reserva.
