About the estate

The winemaking history of the Zappacosta family dates back to the early 1900s, when Antonio and Adamo began producing and selling wine. Following a war-induced interruption, descendants revived the activity in 2008, and since 2016 Adamo and Matteo have been running the estate together. The vineyards are located on the hills between Chieti and Bucchianico at an altitude of 330 to 350 meters above sea level on predominantly clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils. Influenced by sea breezes and winds from Gran Sasso, the microclimate provides optimal conditions for indigenous grape varieties such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano, and Pecorino. The operational approach relies on organic farming as well as the combination of traditional recipes and techniques.
