About the estate

The Montigny winery in Bretzenheim on the Nahe river traces its historical roots back to a Huguenot family that fled France 300 years ago, and today it is led by their descendant Steffen James Montigny. Wine production began in the late 1950s through his father. The estate manages its vineyards according to the principles of close-to-nature viticulture, focusing on healthy soils and sustainable humus formation using its own compost. Following a three-year transition period, the wines have been fully organically certified since the 2022 vintage. Combining tradition and innovation, the estate produces individual and distinctive wines.
