About the estate

The Matthias Schunk estate is a family-owned business founded in 2009 in Alken, Germany. The owner successfully completed his training as a winemaker in 2006 and his degree as a certified manager for viticulture and oenology the following year. Riesling vines are primarily cultivated across a vineyard area of approximately one hectare located in steep and terraced sites. The local slate soils and favorable climatic conditions promote the maturation of these grapes. The portfolio also includes Kerner, Pinot Noir, and Reichensteiner varieties, which are not vinified on-site.
