About the estate

The Staatsweingut Meersburg farms sixty-three hectares of vineyards in prime locations on Lake Constance and Hohentwiel. The documented history of viticulture dates back to 1210, when a vineyard belonging to Manegoldus von Rohrdorf was first mentioned in records. Following secularization in the early nineteenth century, the estate became Germany's first wine-growing domain under the Grand Duchy of Baden. Today, the enterprise is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg and operates as a state-run business subordinated to the Ministry of Finance. The portfolio features characterful wines with regional identity from Meersburg and Gailingen.

The eno directory lists 43 wines, mostly from Pinot Noir and Müller-Thurgau. The estate sells to retail.
