About the estate
The Quinta do Vale Meão estate was founded in 1877 by Antónia Adelaide Ferreira after she acquired land on Mount Meão in the Douro region. The property has remained in the hands of her descendants ever since and is today managed by the Olazabal family. The estate features about 98 hectares of vineyards planted on schist, granite, and alluvial soils. Cultivated grape varieties include Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz. In the cellar, traditional winemaking methods in stone treading tanks are combined with modern technologies.
The estate sells to importers, distributors, retail and horeca. Export markets include Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and Romania.
