About the estate
The MM Extra Sektkellereien winery looks back on a long history in the Rheingau, which began in 1811 with the acquisition of the estate and extensive cellar facilities in Eltville. After the sons learned the art of champagne production in France, the Matheus Müller house transitioned into a sparkling wine cellar in 1837, becoming one of the very first along the Rhine. The company quickly gained high recognition for its products and supplied the emperor as well as princes during the 19th century. The business remained in the Müller family ownership until 1984 before it was sold to an international spirits group and ultimately acquired by the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellar in 2002.
