About the estate
The Cantina il Poggio estate was founded in 1992 in the hills of Salsomaggiore Terme and now spans 15 hectares of vineyards. The vines are cultivated at altitudes between 350 and 400 meters above sea level on clay-limestone soils with parcels containing shale. The plantings include traditional varieties such as Barbera, Bonarda, and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, alongside international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Guided by winemaker Luca Gualdana, the winery focuses on structured wines, spearheaded by its historic flagship red wine, Poggio. Distribution reaches both private clients and the broader HoReCa market domestically and internationally.
The eno directory lists 10 wines, mostly from Barbera and Malvasia. The estate sells to horeca.
