About the estate
The history of the Bodegas Contador estate begins in 1995 when winemaker and enologist Benjamín Romeo acquired a century-old cave in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in La Rioja. Following initial small-scale vinifications and production in a garage, the current winery building was inaugurated in June 2008. Designed in collaboration with architect Héctor Herrera, the three-tiered structure mirrors the natural slopes of the terrain and facilitates the handling of grapes and wine through gravity. Over the years, the estate has continuously acquired vineyards and achieved significant international prominence through top ratings for its wines.
