About the estate
The Adega Cooperativa de Barcelos estate was founded in 1962 by initially 51 winegrowers with the main objective of promoting the production and commercialization of Vinhos Verdes in the municipalities of Barcelos and neighboring areas. Today, the cooperative has grown to include more than 600 winegrowers representing a vineyard area of over 510 hectares. The members utilize diverse cultivation systems and grape varieties within the Cávado sub-region. Technical experts continuously assist the producers in modernizing the vineyards and advise them on all agricultural and technical processes ranging from fieldwork to vinification and bottling.
